Rear Window

(1954) **** Pg
112 min. Paramount; Universal. Director: Alfred Hitchcock. Cast: James Stewart, Grace Kelly, Wendell Corey, Thelma Ritter, Raymond Burr.
Alfred Hitchcock's classic Rear Window is perhaps Hitch's most purely perfect film. It packs in the popcorn thrills, a great Jimmy Stewart performance, and a subtle internal deconstruction of the film experience itself. In short, it's a great entertainment that also pays testament to Hitchcock's thematic and technical brilliance. Now, as restored by Robert A. Harris and James C. Katz (whose Vertigo restoration was stunningly effective), this almost 50-year-old film is more irresistible than ever, on the big or small screen.
