Earns points for resisting the usual corny romantic comedy gimmicks (I'm looking at you, The Wedding Date!) for most of its running time.

Though it panders shamelessly, it's not entirely unwelcome in a time when the PG movie is an endangered species.

Interesting enough as a symbolic drama of conflicting and conflicted beliefs. But this is also supposed to be a spooky movie, right?

Effectively has it both ways, with its dark neuroses and naughty humor giving way to a sweet consideration of the rarity of unconditional love.
