Certainly a bad film. But darn it, it ain't a half-bad movie.

Heroes still has some way to go in restoring the cohesion of its initial run, but Fuller has helped the show to prove it's capable of hitting a stride and mining fresh stories that deepen the mythology...

Comes full up with heavy-handed signifiers, from Ben's choice of reading (Hemingway...) to a hammered motif of lapsed Christianity (the climax takes place in a rotting church) that underlines the theme of living with the sins of the past.

At times suffers from dull, dunderheaded, or dead-end plotlines [but]...There's enough here to keep hope alive that Gotham could grow into more of a weekly treat than a fanboy obligation.
