Rob Reiner—
And So It Goes
,
The Case Against 8
—6/19 & 6/20/2014
I enjoy the creative process. I love the writing part of it, the editing—one of my favorites. But I also like the production process. It’s just fun to do. That’s what I’ve discovered, you know, as I’ve gotten older.
Rumor Has It... (2005)
For a movie purportedly about the truth behind a movie, the mushy
Rumor Has It...
feels astoundingly false.
Everyone's Hero (2006)
Never explains its stupid idea of a talking baseball and a talking bat...The filmmakers presume too much in assuming we'll accept the "magic" "realism"...
The Princess Bride (1987)
This Is Spinal Tap (1984)
The story of an embarrasingly inept heavy-metal band called Spinal Tap, Rob Reiner's film set the mockumentary standard that has come to define much of modern screen comedy.
Misery (1990)
Flipped (2010)
Stand By Me (1986)
The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
Rests comfortably alongside Scorsese's masterpieces
Goodfellas
and
Casino
, but carries a sting that even they don't by examining the most acceptable, yet most rapacious, of criminal swindles.
Stand by Me (1986)
Exquisitely captures the vulnerability not only of youth, but of the male identity.
