A conspicuously charming kids' film [but] adults who slobber over The Chorus are kidding themselves if they think it's sophisticated, realistic, or original.

I'd say that this mixed bag is better toted home from a video store, but Wong Kar-Wai's just not as swoony on a picture tube...cineastes, proceed with caution.

As ever, Malle's sensitivity is supreme and his delicate style evocative.
