The Judd Apatow juggernaut rolls on with
Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which Apatow produces for writer-star Jason Segel. Like his onetime
Freaks and Geeks co-star Seth Rogen, Segel is an unlikely star but a notable talent, and his worst-case scenario comedy agreeably riffs along for nearly two hours. Segel's first star vehicle skews a bit more wacky than
Knocked Up, but its meandering comedy of awkward social interaction showcases a strong ensemble that includes Kristin Bell as Segel's freshly "ex" girlfriend, Russell Brand as her new beau, and Mila Kunis as the concierge at the Hawaiian hotel where everyone unexpectedly meets. In funny supporting turns are Jack McBrayer, Jonah Hill, and Paul Rudd, whose out-to-lunch surf instructor is particularly hilarious.
